Random thoughts for the night...

Pat is in Charleston helping Em and Mike put things back in order and I am here, in Roatan, finishing up our boat project. As one might imagine our time spent apart is rare. It’s nice but only short lived. I already miss her. It will be a long two weeks.
Today was spent with Larry, Don and I finishing up our new channel marker project. The cut into Jonesville Bight has not been properly marked and we are setting a new buoy to aid navigation for those coming into this harbor (more on that later). After a long sweaty day of collecting weights, welding and sounding for the proper buoy location we ended up at the Hole in the Wall for a few beers (where else). I just got back aboard and had a long hot shower while Traffic and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young sang on. Dinner is on the stove and I'm looking forward to grilled chicken breast, sliced beets and a movie.
It only just dawned on me that we don’t have much daylight here this time of year. We are at 16 degrees north latitude and the sun sets at about 6:15. We only have about 12 hours of daylight! Funny how little things seem to slip by until you realize that you are, indeed, in a different world. No matter…it’s still quite magical.
Homeward Bound is looking almost “new”. She is very happy, as are we. Six and a half weeks of labor (someone else’s) has brought her back to “Bristol” fashion. Edsel will be done on Wednesday or Thursday. I promised him that we will have an onboard party to celebrate all his work. That made him happy! I think I’ll have her in full regalia (all flags flying) for the occasion. Stay tuned!
Once the work is complete I will move HB to anchorage just off the dock at Larry’s simply to get away from the dock. Something about being tied to land just doesn’t set well after so many weeks. Can’t wait.
Tomorrow night I’ll have dinner at Don and Yvonne’s beach front house. I’m looking forward to that. We have befriended some wonderful local expats and we thoroughly enjoy their company.  Always a hoot!

So that’s it for now. With only three weeks, till we fly home, I find the anticipation mounting. It’s almost like “Christmas” is upon us. It’s very comforting to realize the depth of our friendships and just what they mean to us.
Life remains good. We miss you and, as always, we are “onward and upward”!
See you soon…
