Leaving Isla Mujeres ...
Carnivale Dancers.
Carnivale Dancers.
We’re making ready for our departure from Isla Mujeres. We’ll head fifty miles south to set the stage for our mini family reunion. Pat’s sister, Debbie, and Randy (yes the sisters both married Randys!!) along with their sons Brad, his wife Shala, Kyle and his wife Emily are all flying into Cozumel on the 23rd for five nights. We are looking forward to a great visit (it’s a certainty!!). Stay tuned for updates.
Our final week, here in Isla Mujeres, is actually their “carnivale” week. Carnivales are always fascinating in these island nations. Christmas of 08’ we experienced Junkanoo in the Bahamas see more here . We attended one of the main events in the square Saturday night. It was focused on the children of Isla Mujerese. Bright colorful costumes, loud music, dancing, and laughing made for a great night.  Today we’ll head back into town to see how it’s done during the day (I don’t think it will be as good as nighttime; but we’ll see).
WiFi connections will become less frequent as we head further south. We are planning on Cozumel until March 1st then off to Roatan (Honduras) for a few weeks. Then we’ll sail as quickly as we can to Panama and (possibly Cartegna, Columbia). Then, we’ll work our way back north along the Central American coastline (next fall). Hopes are to spend Christmas back here in Isla Mujeres. As always these plans are cast in “jello”. We’ll see. More Later.
